About This Opportunity Responsibilities:
As an Engineering Manager, you are joining a multidisciplinary team of engineers who create digital products that thousands of people experience every day. We are seeking a creative, hands-on, talented engineer to be a member of the 7-Eleven Global platform development team. As an Engineering Manager, your primary focus will be,
- Manage and grow engineering teams, projects, performance, and career growth of engineers.
- Communicate roadmaps with the team, leaders, and stakeholders.
- Partner with various teams to determine scope and estimate development effort.
- Lead systems design, architecture, and scaling discussions.
- Influence adoption of industry standards.
Responsibilities
- 9+ years of experience with development and designing applications with Microservices architecture.
- 4+ years of experience developing with large microservice-based architectures, Azure infrastructure (API Gateway, AKS, Service Bus, Kafka).
- 5+ years of experience in relational or non-relational database management systems.
- 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers.
- Deep knowledge to create standards-compliant, cross-browser, mobile compatible front-end code with responsive design.
- Deep knowledge of server-side and front-end performance optimization.
- Provides technical oversight across systems and applications; leverage skills across multiple apps.
- Experience in partnering with product and program management teams. Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
- Responsible for delivery of end results and shares responsibility for budget management which directly impacts the apps support area; accountable for resource planning.
- Performs controlled resolution of incidents and issues including prioritization and escalation to relevant groups when appropriate, root cause analysis of all problems with follow-through to resolution.
- Exhibits sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills to exchange complex information with all cross functional partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience building applications using NodeJS, Java and/or React.
- Familiarity with modern build pipelines and tools.
- Familiarity with code versioning Git (Gitlab).
- Familiarity with project management tools like JIRA.
