Job Description: Fitter - Maintenance Department

The Fitter in the Maintenance Department is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of machinery and equipment within the facility. This role involves the maintenance, repair, and installation of various mechanical components, including gearboxes, chain drives, belt drives, and air compressors. The Fitter will work closely with the maintenance team to minimize downtime and ensure that all equipment is functioning at optimal levels.
Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine maintenance on mechanical systems such as gearboxes, chain drives, and belt drives to ensure they are in good working condition.
Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical systems and equipment, including reciprocating air compressors.
- Replace or repair defective components using appropriate tools and techniques.
Lubricate machinery and perform regular checks to prevent wear and tear.Installation and Setup:
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
- Set up and align machinery components such as V-belts, pulleys, and chains to ensure proper operation.
Adjust and calibrate machinery to ensure optimal performance.Tool and Die Management:
Maintain and manage tools and dies used in the maintenance process.
- Ensure all tools are in good working order and properly stored after use.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures during maintenance activities.
Ensure all machinery and equipment comply with industry standards and regulations.
- Participate in safety training and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, parts replaced, and preventive maintenance schedules.
Report any major issues or breakdowns to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Key Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Fitter in the maintenance department of FMCG, Cosmetics, Pharma, or Automobile industries.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including gearboxes, chain drives, and belt drives.
Proficiency in maintaining and repairing reciprocating air compressors.- Familiarity with V-belts, tools, and dies used in machinery maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.- Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.
- Educational Qualifications:
A diploma or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting, or a related field is preferred.- Relevant technical training or apprenticeship in fitting or mechanical maintenance.
