BMC Mainframe Services (BMS) has an exciting opportunity to grow our team in India. We are forecasting BMS to be the largest Services unit within BMC and are looking for the right people to help develop and grow our India based practice.
The ideal candidate can be located either at Pune or Bangalore and must be available to travel when necessary.
As an experienced Mainframe Consultant, you will be part of a team that has been acknowledged as an industry leader. You will help our clients grow their business by providing install, configuration, and conversion work for the BMC products.
Skills/Qualifications
- 9+ years of relevant mainframe technical experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer:
- Working in Services or projects, preferably Customer facing in a professional consultative capacity.
- Strong experience in Installation, Customization and Initialization of Automation Products.
- Strong experience in developing automation tasks and rules in large mainframe environments.
- Strong experience with SMP/e, testing and deployment strategies, problem determination and resolution.
- Strong experience in z/OS Operating System and Program Product installs, SYSPLEX, system configurations, upgrades, user mods/exits, in large complex environments.
- Strong experience in REXX for conversion to REXX and RULES
- Strong experience in TSO, ISPF, JCL, CLIST
- Consultative skills with customers when driving deliverables and setting priorities
- A self-starter, willing to work without a net with a proven ability to meet assigned timelines with high quality, complete deliverables in unsupervised, often remote, situations.
- Willingness to mentor, share ideas and knowledge with other colleagues promoting best practices.
- Demonstrated success in building key relationships in the past with Sales, Technical Support, Application Teams and Product Engineering
Desirable Experience
- Mainframe Automation Products as administrator especially BMC AMI Ops.
- Mainframe Automation Products, CA OPS/MVS, IBM System Automation/Netview as administrator
- Strong experience with install and configuration of software products from, BMC, IBM, Micro Focus and CA products
Primary Roles And Responsibilities
- Works interactively with all project staff, both BMC internal and Customer.
- Performs and coordinates the Install, Configuration, Migration and Implementation activities of BMC tools.
- Contributes to Customer ready design documentation to support all Functional requirements, Technical Solution Design, Test Strategy and Deployment Plans
- Participating in project teams as subject matter expert, relating to the support of existing technologies, the selection and implementation of new technologies.
- Advises on updates to the Project or Service Schedule to the Project Manager, Practice Lead or Service Delivery Manager
- Recognizes customer requests that fall outside scope of the SOW or any new opportunities and brings it to the attention of the Project Manager/Practice Lead for further review.
- Successfully moves Customer into production on the target BMC solution, transitioning the project to closure with both the customer and BMC teams.
- Support BMC disaster recovery/business continuity programs as directed.
- Communicate effectively with R&D users and management at all levels.

At BMC we believe in pay transparency and have set the midpoint of the salary band for this role at 1,840,500 INR.
