Librarian

Description

We are seeking an experienced librarian for Haridwar University. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the library's collection, providing reference services, and overseeing the daily operations of the library. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in library science and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the library's collection of books, journals, and other materials.
• Provide reference services to library patrons, including helping them find and access the resources they need.
• Oversee the daily operations of the library, including managing staff, scheduling, and ensuring that the library is properly maintained and organized.
• Develop and implement library policies and procedures, including those related to circulation, cataloging, and collection development.
• Stay up-to-date on trends and best practices in library science, and make recommendations for improving the library's services and operations.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in library science or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
• 5-15 years of experience working in a library, with demonstrated experience in managing collections, providing reference services, and overseeing library operations.
• Strong organizational and management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with library patrons, staff, and vendors.
• Knowledge of library management systems and other library technologies.
• Familiarity with Indian library laws and regulations.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
