Job Description: The role has the following responsibilities:
Role Summary
The Legal Counsel is primarily responsible for:
- Support in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial, business and operational contracts in areas such as procurement of goods and services, construction, oil, gas and power, EPC, supply contracts with general/ special terms and conditions, branding, property/ land related contract and tender documents.
- Identify issues and collaborate with business teams and internal stakeholders, offering strategic legal advise and be an effective partner in cross-functional teams.
- Management and support in legal conflict issues, litigation and arbitration matters, including at pre-dispute stages, support with case management and coordination with external counsel.
Job Responsibilities
- Drafting, review and negotiation of contracts as per business requirement and identify risks associated with it and recommend solutions / mitigation measures.
- Keeping abreast of latest laws, regulations, rules and industry trends impacting the organisation and advising on potential legal implications.
- Providing advice on legal and regulatory risk for the business teams.
- Support in claim management including assessment of claim, drafting of documentation such as termination notice, suspension notice, notice of default/ breach, show cause notice or preparation of replies thereto on behalf of the organization.
- Assist in development and implementation of business policies and standard operating procedures.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelors/masters degree in law.
- 5-8 years of relevant post-qualification experience from a law firm (Tier 1 or Tier 2) or in-house
- Experience in capital intensive industries.
- Background with experience in manufacturing industry/ industrial process will be preferred.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, along with excellent business judgment and strategic thinking
- Diligent, able to work independently and be able to manage numerous projects simultaneously.
