NSRCEL is the entrepreneurship and startup incubation hub at IIM Bangalore, dedicated to fostering innovation and supporting the startup ecosystem. We partner with leading corporates and government bodies like NITI Aayog, Department of Science and Technology, and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to drive economic growth through entrepreneurial initiatives.
Role Overview:
The Legal Associate will play a critical role in drafting and managing legal documentation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting internal legal operations. This position will report directly to the Legal Manager at NSRCEL, IIMB Innovations, and require collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting Legal Documents: Prepare and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies. This includes Incubation Information Sheets, Grant Agreements, MOUs, Service Agreements, Vendor Contracts, and Non-Disclosure Agreements.
- Legal Records Management: Maintain and update legal records, ensuring all documentation is accurate, secure, and easily accessible.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with external stakeholders, including vendors, partners, and external legal consultants to ensure proper execution of legal processes.
- OCL / Grant Follow-Up: Monitor and follow up on advances given to ventures under Other Current Liabilities (OCL), providing status updates and progress tracking.
- Repayment and Agreement Renewal: Track repayments from ventures and manage contract renewals with vendors and partners.
- Support to Legal Manager: Assist the Legal Manager with preparing documentation for fund disbursement, screening committee reports, and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Document Management & Digitization: Assist with the digitization and secure storage of legal documents, ensuring the organization is prepared for audits and reviews.
- Daily Legal Activities: Support day-to-day legal functions including managing communications and coordinating tasks related to ongoing legal matters.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- LLB from a recognised institution.
- 2+ years of work experience as a Legal Associate.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with the startup ecosystem.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask, take ownership, and work independently.
- Comfortable interacting with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to accept feedback and adapt accordingly.
