Job Summary:
We seek an experienced retired legal assistant to join our back office team in Sakinaka, Andheri West, Mumbai. The ideal candidate will utilize their expertise in title verification, stamp duty, and Indian revenue department regulations to provide critical support in briefing advocates and ensuring compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage schedules, meetings, and communications for attorneys.
2. Draft, proofread, and file legal documents.
3. Organize and maintain case files and records.
4. Conduct basic research on laws, regulations, and case precedents.
5. Schedule meetings and relay information between attorneys and clients.
6. Assist in preparing evidence, exhibits, and documents for hearings or trials.
7. File documents with courts and ensure deadlines are met.
8. Track attorney hours and assist with billing tasks.
9. Prepare and organize exhibits for court presentations.
10. Draft routine letters and handle mail.
Requirements:
- Retired legal professional (lawyer, legal assistant, or equivalent)
- 10+ years of experience in property law, title verification, and compliance
- Strong knowledge of:
- Indian Stamp Act, 1899
- Registration Act, 1908
- Indian Revenue Department regulations
- Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, 1966
- Familiarity with Mumbai court procedures and local laws
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PDF editing
- Analytical, research, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- LL.B. or equivalent law degree
- Experience working with advocates, law firms, or legal departments
- Knowledge of litigation procedures and dispute resolution
