Qualifications:
- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 7+ years in hands on security engineer role with direct responsibility for Cisco Firewalls and Security vulnerability management suite
- Experience with Cloud providers as it relates to security and networking such as Amazon Web Services, Azure, ETC
- 7+ years in hands on experience with Cisco general networking solutions
- EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION PREFERENCES Bachelor's degree in computer science, related discipline, or equivalent work experience

- Broad hands-on knowledge of firewalls & intrusion detection / prevention systems
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols, routing and subnetting
- Strong experience with IPSEC/SSL protocols
- Comfort in handling both Security Engineering and Operations responsibilities
- Experience in MS Office products, including Visio
- Excellent speaking and writing abilities
- Ability to troubleshoot firewall and VPN problems independently
- Ability to prioritize issues and work on multiple issues simultaneously Responsibilities:
- Essential job functions Work with a global team of Infrastructure Engineers to maintain corporate security posture on-premises and in the cloud
- Develop, implement, maintain, and oversee enforcement of network security policies and procedures
- Design, engineer, implement and support all aspects of corporate and global firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, cloud security, and VPN configurations, both internal and customer-facing
- Participate in resolving daily incident and service requests related to the security platform
- As a network security engineer, you will be responsible for installing network and security devices, troubleshooting issues and maintaining security policy & procedures
- Perform system hardening, patching and updating of network security components
- Performing speed and security tests on installed networks
- Create and update documentation of network security systems
- Assist in establishing and managing effective working relationships with Security Vendors and Managed Service Providers
- Support network technologies such as routers, switches, and load balancers as required
- Provide on-call technical support for network security issues
Overview
R1 is seeking to hire a Senior Security Engineer to work as a member of the R1 security team. The Senior Security Engineer will perform a wide-range of network-related duties, including the design, implementation, and maintenance of organization network security systems. The Senior Security Engineer will take a lead role in the following areas:
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership in the support of complex network and server operating system environments. Lead network security design, disaster recovery planning, capacity planning, and complex server and network configurations.
- Network Security and Maintenance: Design, implement, and maintain secure and complex networks. Ensure robust network security, perform administration and monitoring of network and voice services, and manage upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance for network-related projects.
- Advanced Configuration and Troubleshooting: Configures, manages, maintains, and troubleshoots Cisco ASA and Fire Power firewalls, including experience with ACLs, S2S VPNs, BGP, IPSec, routing, optimizing/tuning, and troubleshooting in multi-context mode.
- Infrastructure Support: Apply in-depth knowledge to support network infrastructure including but not limited to email, storage management, file and print services, routers, wireless access points, switches, firewalls, network-related software, network management systems, and backup and disaster recovery services.
