At Thomson Reuters, we are recruiting a team of motivated Cloud professionals to transform how we build, manage and leverage our data assets. The Data Platform team in Bangalore is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with a passion for engineering cloud-based data platform systems.
Join our dynamic team as a Lead Software Engineer and take a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Enterprise Data Platform. You will ideate & lead the solution design and implementation of data processing applications and frameworks on cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of our systems.
About the Role
In this opportunity as the Lead Software Engineer, you will:
Design data warehousing functionality including the use and management of a Snowflake data warehouse and the surrounding entitlements, pipelines in in AWS cloud-based infrastructure and monitoring, in partnership with architects. You will pair with the Data Platform Engineering Manager in delivering high quality solutions.
Mentor and lead team members in implementation of our advanced technology solutions for the data lake warehouse and surrounding functionality. Keeping teams accountable for high quality deliveries.
Be a thought leader investigating leading edge technology for data lake warehouse software and systems functionality.
Innovate Research, recommend and pilot tools and process changes in order to drive quality and efficiency across the solution development lifecycle to meeting data management requirements.
Partner across the company with analytics teams, architects, engineering managers, architecture teams and others to design and agree on solutions that meet business requirements. Participate in architectural review boards, evaluations of data and analytics solutions, commercial products and technologies.
Effectively communicate and liaise with other data management teams embedded across the organization and data consumers in data science and business analytic groups.

Metadata Repositories, Information & Data Catalogs

About You
You're a fit for the role of Lead Software Engineer, if you meet all or most of these criteria:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 11+ years of relevant experience in data warehousing Design, Tuning, ETL/ELT development and Data management of data technologies for large scale organizations.
Deep Experience with API/first architecture design and cloud infrastructure for large scale data warehouse & data lakes.
Expertise in modern data movement, storage, management and security technology and tooling, including cloud native capabilities.
Experience with modern engineering practices (DevOps, CICD) and their use, application to Data Architectures and solutions.
Expertise in designing large-scale, complex applications with excellent run-time characteristics such as low-latency (API), fault-tolerance and consistent availability (Disaster Recovery)
Experience in AWS services and management, including Serverless, Container, Queueing and Monitoring services like Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, RDS, Dynamo DB, Glue, S3, IAM, Step Functions, CloudWatch, SQS, SNS.
Experience in Software development practices such as version control via Git, CI/CD and Release management
Proficient in Python programming language.
Agile development cadence
Fluency in querying languages such as SQL
