Lead - Restorative Care

Job Description

  • Lead and manage a team of social workers and counsellors who provide psychosocial support to children and their families, ensure effective and efficient representation for children and administer cases as per established protocols and quality services
  • Contribute to research and analysis of data, development of training materials, and capacity building programmes for various stakeholders, development of critical thinking on law and policy reform issues, and participate in various forums working towards strengthening the child protection system in the country
Team and case-load management
  • Oversee the daily work of the restorative care team (social workers and counsellors), develop and implement work plans and reporting procedures for them.
  • Prioritise and allocate cases to appropriate counsellor or social worker, monitor and maintain accurate records towards optimising the quality and efficiency of services provided to children and their families.
Coordination
  • Work with the social workers and counsellors, lawyers, other service providers and authorities, for providing legal and/or psychosocial support and restorative care to children.
  • Handhold and handhold the child and the family through the legal process.
Case management
  • Act as the first responder to child abuse victims at the police station, during medical examination and statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, along with a lawyer, where required.
  • Provide necessary psychosocial care and rehabilitation support in assigned cases to children and their families during the criminal justice process.
  • Observe and document proceedings and dealings with children brought before the stated agencies.
Case administration
  • Maintain case files, regular updates and records of cases assigned.
  • Document experiences and observations during case work management and reporting on progress in each case as per the reporting schedules and formats.
Capacity building
  • Train, coach and mentor social workers and counsellors, including accompanying them in the field to meet with children and their families as and when required, for efficient casework management.
  • Develop training modules and conduct capacity building programmes on child protection laws, policies and practices.
Organisational learning
  • Contribute to documentation of good practices while dealing with the cases.
  • Support any State/National level campaigns on child sexual abuse and other child protection issues.
Networking
  • Pro-actively engage with concerned national and state authorities, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) and other such agencies, as needed for case work management, training, research, law, and policy reform.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Post-graduate in Psychology or a related field.
  • Professional experience of 4-6 years in handling case work management with children
  • Ability to work in and lead a team
  • Fluency in spoken Hindi and English (knowledge of other Indian languages would be an asset)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software and database systems
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES
Subject specialisation
  • Knowledge of Child psychology and/or Restorative care
  • Understanding of the legal system and the juvenile justice administration
  • Experience of team management and working with children and young people
