About: Phonepe is the leader in the UPI based payments in India with a market share of more than 47%. PhonePe has forayed into diverse areas with its offerings in almost all fintech segments including insurance, lending, mutual funds and stock broking. In 2024, PhonePe also launched Indus AppStore - its own native Android-based mobile app store built for Indian consumers providing app discovery and content in 12 Indian languages.

Job Summary:

Looking for an experienced and proactive Lead - People Lifecycle Management to join our People Experience team and oversee the critical areas of Employee Lifecycle Management, FTC Management and HR Vendor Management, and set up the Global HR Operations in the newer geographies. The incumbent would be responsible for reviewing and realigning the processes for enhancing the experience to the employees, partners and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Employee Lifecycle Management (FTE)
  • Provide leadership and direction for employee lifecycle related activities ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Design and implement strategies for fostering a positive employee experience and engagement across all lifecycle touchpoints (pre-boarding/ onboarding/ induction, background verification, employee support and employee data management).
  • Ensure standardization of employee lifecycle processes across the organization and adherence to the statutory and regulatory requirements.

  1. FTC Management:
  • Provide strategic direction for managing 20,000 FTCs (third-party payroll workforce), ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with third-party payroll partners, ensuring they meet PhonePe's performance and compliance standards.
  • Oversee the standardization of FTC management processes in alignment with the Business Heads and Business HR teams and champion continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks to monitor and ensure compliance with organizational policies and relevant labor laws.

  1. Vendor Management (for HR function):
  • Lead the implementation of streamlined processes for vendor management and invoice processing, focusing on efficiency and consistency across HR.
  • Ensure continuous process improvements to enhance the effectiveness of vendor operations, cost reporting and forecasting.

  1. Global HR Operations:
  • Support PhonePe's expansion in overseas locations by setting-up the HR operations processes by identifying partners/vendors in respective geographies.
  • Establish HR operational frameworks, policies, and procedures in line with the regulatory requirements and cultural nuances of the country of operation.
  • Evaluate the performance of HR operations in new countries, conducting regular assessments/ audits to ensure adherence to relevant standards, policies, and regulations.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of payroll and compliance requirements in the countries of operation and address the related queries from the employees.

  1. Team Management and Process Improvement:
  • Guide the team members and ensure their development through relevant interventions and regular feedback. Identify and address skill gaps to enhance team performance.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of processes, identify areas for improvement and automation, and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and FAQs to ensure uniform and standardized processes.

Capabilities & Requirements:

  • MBA in Human Resources/ Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5 to 6 years of experience in HR operations within a fast-paced environment with a large headcount.
  • Exposure to global HR operations and compliances is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders and lead initiatives without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Drive for result, strong bias for action, problem solving and ownership.
