The client is looking for a dynamic, visionary leader to join an early-stage startup focused on transforming rural development in India to empower farmers, enhance their livelihoods, and create sustainable growth in rural communities.
Lead- Mobilization and Institutional Strengthening will play a pivotal role in facilitating the mobilization and enhancement of producer enterprises (PEs) within the organizations ecosystem. The Lead is responsible for fostering strong relationships within PEs, developing modules for board member selection, capacity building etc, providing support for their institutional development, and implementing strategies to strengthen their capacities. This position requires a combination of community engagement, project management, and organizational development skills to effectively empower PEs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with internal teams to integrate mobilization and institutional strengthening activities into project plans.
- Developing work plans, budgets, and monitoring frameworks for mobilization and capacity-building initiatives.
- Guide the field teams in organizing community meetings, workshops, and outreach events to raise awareness about PEs and mobilize farmers into PEs.
- Support the field teams in providing training and support to PEs in areas such as governance, financial management, market linkages, and sustainable practices.
- Share knowledge and lessons learned with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders through presentations, reports, and other communication channels.
- Specifically, the lead will also be responsible for ensuring that the organization reaches a cumulative total of one million women farmers by mobilizing them into large-scale PEs. This will involve promoting new large-scale PEs and integrating existing FPOs under the organizations umbrella by extending services. These efforts will be carried out with support from SRLMs.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in development studies, rural development, community development, business administration, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Proven experience (15-20 years) in community mobilization, capacity building, and institutional strengthening, preferably within the context of producer enterprises or agricultural cooperatives.
- Strong understanding of participatory approaches, community organizing principles, and organizational development concepts.
- Knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices, value chain development, and market linkages is desirable.
