The Lead Engineer will oversee the design, development, and implementation of large-scale substation projects, focusing on 400 KV and 765 KV systems, with hands-on experience in both Gas-Insulated Substations (GIS) and Air-Insulated Substations (AIS). This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the substation domain, capable of leading engineering teams, ensuring technical excellence, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Design and Development:
- Lead the design and development of high-voltage substation projects, including 400 KV and 765 KV systems.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, drawings, and documents to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to determine the viability of projects.
- Oversee the integration of GIS and AIS technologies into substation designs.
Technical Leadership: - Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineering teams, ensuring best practices and technical excellence.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate various aspects of substation projects.
- Mentor and train junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Project Management: - Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project alignment.
Quality Assurance and Compliance: - Implement quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes to ensure high standards of project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (eg, IEEE, IEC), safety regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
Procurement and Vendor Management: - Assist in the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for substation projects.
- Evaluate and manage vendor and supplier performance, ensuring timely delivery and quality of project components.
- Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with key suppliers and contractors.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design documents, progress reports, and change orders.
- Prepare and present detailed project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation for project handover and future reference.
Experience, Education and other Required:
- bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A masters degree is a plus.
- 10-15 years of experience in substation projects, with a focus on 400 KV and 765 KV systems.
- Hands-on experience with Gas-Insulated Substations (GIS) and Air-Insulated Substations (AIS) Primary and Secondary Engineering
- Proven track record of leading engineering teams and managing large-scale, high-voltage substation projects.
- Strong knowledge of substation design, construction, and commissioning processes.
- Familiarity with industry standards (eg, IEEE, IEC) and regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in engineering and project management software (eg, AutoCAD, MS Project, Primavera).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is desirable.
- Experience with digital substations and advanced protection systems.
- Knowledge of automation and control systems used in substations
