- The Lead Engineer u2013 Failure Investigations for Engineering Material System organization provides direction and assistance to the work group in order to meet assigned objectives.
- In this role you will work both independently and with various teams to meet commercial engine program objectives and external customer expectations.
- Additionally the person may be involved with development of new materials to help GE Aerospace.
- The person will be involved in failure investigations of components.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Deliver on providing failure investigations support for commercial engines in service which will include investigating root cause of field events shop findings along with supporting manufacturing and repair shops
- Provide necessary materials support for mechanical and environmental material testing requirements.
- Provide necessary materials support with development of new and alternate materials
- Partner with design and systems organizations for investigations
- Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
- Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Foster and inspire a collaborative work style and display team-oriented behaviour with a proactive example of communication internally and externally
- Provide engineering support within one specialty to teams working on performance cost reduction problem resolutions and quality initiatives
- Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company
- Function as program manager when appropriate
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors/ Master Degree in Metallurgy Materials science Materials engineering manufacturing or closely related technical field from an accredited college or university
- Deep understanding of materials processes applications and failure modes.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in an engineering position for candidates with Bachelors degree 4 years for candidates with Masters degree
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Aviation / Automotive / Aerospace materials and applications investigations

- Experience in Aircraft engine component failure analysis and investigation understanding failure mode fleet wide implications and corrective actions
- Proven track records of technical depth in one or multiple areas in materials engineering / materials & process applications
