Job Description

Lead Database Engineer
As part of our Technology function at Thomson Reuters we deliver software products to support our customers across Indirect Tax business units. We are looking for talented and motivated professionals who want to help us build great software products using their technical expertise and passion for technology. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently on design and development activities while collaborating closely with other team members in order to achieve the highest quality standards. You should have strong knowledge of database programming languages such as SQL Server or Oracle, experience with query optimization techniques, data modeling concepts and best practices for database design. Experience with automated testing tools like TFS, JIRA or GitLab would also be beneficial.

About the Role-

In this opportunity as a Lead Database Engineer you will:

Assist in architecting and implementing large scale database solutions using best practice patterns
Work with multiple stakeholders including product management teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable designs
Review and implement database schema changes
Develop stored procedures/functions, triggers, views, etc. using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and/or PG Admin for Postgres
Identify performance bottlenecks within existing systems and develop strategies to optimize queries
Monitor system health by reviewing error logs, monitoring metrics, identifying potential issues before they become incidents
Participate in code reviews, peer reviews and provide feedback to team members
Perform unit tests and participate in integration tests to ensure high quality releases
Ensure all changes are thoroughly documented through tickets, source control comments and documentation wikis

About You -

12 years experience including providing support for mission critical production databases(SQL Server / PostgreSQL),experience with cloud-based database offerings like Amazon RDS, Aurora.
Empowering team success through coaching and mentoring for on-time releases.
In-depth knowledge of relational database design principles (normalization, indexing, etc.)
Experience with performance optimization techniques.
Experience with data migration and replication tools.
Prior working experience using agile development framework and best practices.
Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines independently toward assigned goals with minimum supervision.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to make presentations to professional peers and work closely with management.
Display ability to learn rapidly and adapt quickly to changing situations.
Be a role model to the rest of the members within and outside the team in technical, personal, behavioural and corporate citizenship.
AWS Certification strengthens candidacy for on-time cloud project delivery.
