The Opportunity
BETA is a self-clearing securities processing solution for wealth management firms. Built on years of expert knowledge and hands-on experience, BETA provides critical back-office controls including corporate action management, middle office exception management, and front office account management and trading tools for advisors.
We are currently seeking an experienced and technology-oriented individual to take on the role of
Lead Associate, Software Engineering - Senior AIX/UNIX Engineer. This is an individual contributor position, and the ideal candidate is responsible for development, delivery, and support of technology-based business solutions. They will test and implement configuration changes and assist in the design of software applications to meet both functional and technical requirements. The individual will deliver strategic initiatives within the Wealth Management Platform Product Engineering team.
About The Team
Reporting to the Manager, Technology Development, this role is part of a Scrum team supporting a product(s) within the Open Systems Development team. The team builds and modifies AIX programs that are exposed to our end-client firms as well as to our internal applications.
What You'll Do
- Writes new software, makes modifications to existing software, integrates
software applications and modules in accordance with agreed upon specifications provided by leads.
- Creates and executes unit testing and integration testing ensuring modules meet requirements.
- May need to provide technical support to operations or other development teams
- Creates and maintains all required technical documentation related to assigned components to ensure supportability.
- Designs and implements solutions as directed within standards.
- Participates in project planning sessions with team members to analyze development requirements, provide design options, and provide work breakdown and estimates of work.
- Provides regular status updates via internal team meetings, scrum ceremonies and status meetings.
Your Experience
Background in AIX or UNIX
- Experience with one or more programming languages, software engineering methodologies, computer science principles. Good understanding of software development quality processes.
- 3-6 yrs. experience in complex integration projects.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Works well with Divergent Groups within the organization
- 4 years Degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Information Science) or Master's Degree in Computer Science
- IBM Professional Certification added advantage
Good To Have
- Shell scripting
- Strong background in C, C++, C#, Java knowledge a plus
- Good at taking direction, problem-solving, and self-motivating tasks to completion.
