Overview:As the Lab Assistant (Chemistry) at [School Name], you will play a crucial role in supporting the Science department by assisting in the management and operation of the Chemistry laboratory. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in Chemistry and practical laboratory experience.
- Laboratory Management: Assist in the organization, setup, and maintenance of the Chemistry laboratory, ensuring that it is clean, safe, and well-equipped for experiments and demonstrations.
- Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials to ensure proper functioning and safety standards. Report any issues or malfunctions to the appropriate authorities for repair or replacement.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of chemicals, reagents, glassware, and other laboratory supplies. Keep accurate records of stock levels, orders, and deliveries to ensure sufficient supply for experiments and activities.
- Experiment Assistance: Assist teachers and students in conducting Chemistry experiments and demonstrations, providing guidance on proper procedures, techniques, and safety precautions.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and procedures in the laboratory, including the use of protective equipment, handling of hazardous materials, and disposal of waste. Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain safety documentation as per CBSE guidelines.
- Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the Science department, including preparing materials, setting up experiments, and organizing laboratory schedules as needed.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, fellow lab assistants, and school administrators to support the overall goals and objectives of the Science department and contribute to a positive learning environment.
- Qualifications:
Master's degree in Chemistry (M.Sc Chemistry) is mandatory.- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Lab Assistant or Lab In Charge, preferably in a school setting.
Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols, procedures, and best practices.
- Familiarity with common laboratory equipment, instruments, and techniques.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
