Winmore Academy is seeking a skilled and motivated Lab Assistant to support our science department. The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation, organization, and management of laboratory experiments and materials, ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment for students. The Lab Assistant will work closely with science teachers and students to facilitate hands-on learning experiences and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
Lab Preparation and Management:- Assist in the setup and preparation of laboratory experiments and demonstrations.
Ensure that all necessary materials, equipment, and supplies are available and in good condition.- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces, adhering to safety and hygiene standards.
Student Support:- Provide assistance to students during laboratory activities, including guidance on proper use of equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
Support science teachers in managing lab sessions and addressing any technical or procedural issues that arise.Safety and Compliance:
Monitor and enforce safety procedures and protocols in the laboratory to ensure a safe working environment for students and staff.
- Maintain and manage chemical inventory, including proper storage, labeling, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and institutional policies.Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate records of lab inventory, equipment maintenance, and safety inspections.
- Assist in ordering and restocking laboratory supplies and materials as needed.
Support the development and implementation of laboratory procedures and protocols.Professional Development and Collaboration:
Participate in relevant professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in laboratory management and science education.
- Collaborate with science teachers and other staff members to improve lab procedures and enhance the educational experience.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related science) or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience working in a laboratory setting is preferred.
Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and equipment maintenance.- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with students and staff.
- Proficiency in using standard laboratory equipment and tools.
