The Network Engineer s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training.
Key Accountabilities
As the Network Engineer, you will be accountable for:
Respond to events presented by network management tools or reported incidents using documented procedures, personal experience and direction from senior staff or leadership
Provide hands on support for a variety of technologies including but not limited to routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, WAN accelerators & wireless
Remote access solution implementation and support such as IPSEC VPN
Understanding of DNS/DHCP
Create incident tickets taking ownership for tracking them through their lifecycle ensuring progression
Must be able to convey technical information in a manner suitable for the audiences understanding or interests
Participate in various bridge calls responding to requests and providing feedback on current state of the environment
Use the tools provided to assist with diagnosis of incidents and to proactively assist others with diagnostics
Open, track and follow up on cases with vendors pertaining to active incidents in the environment
Perform routine maintenance activities and deploy scheduled changes based on documented procedures
Create or modify documentation in response to new events and learnings
Contribute to event threshold tuning efforts
Requests and Incidents have timely updates based on SLA metrics
Effectively participate in shift change functions including documentation and discussion
Routinely provide constructive feedback for improvement opportunities
