ShepHertz is seeking a highly skilled Kong API Gateway Engineer to join our remote team on a permanent basis.
At least 4 years of hands-on experience in API Gateway management with a strong focus on Kong API Gateway
API Gateway Management: Oversee the development and maintenance of the Kong API gateway, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.
API Gateway Installation: Hands on experience for installation of Kong API gateway in hybrid mode topology.
API Development: Design, implement, and maintain Kong configurations and custom plugins to meet business and technical requirements.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Implement monitoring and logging solutions to proactively identify and resolve issues, ensuring seamless operation of API services.
Security Enforcement: Enforce security policies and ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies for API management.
Performance Optimization: Continuously analyse system performance and implement enhancements to improve efficiency and throughput.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, processes, and procedures.
Collaboration: Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to integrate Kong with existing systems and workflows.
Support: Provide support for incident resolution and ensure timely resolution of production issues.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Kong API gateway, Lua scripting, and related technologies. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable.
Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
Security: In-depth knowledge of API security practices, including OAuth, JWT, and API key management.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
