What you'll do
The position is for a developer with Kafka expertise where you will be working within Integration Centre of Enablement delivering support for our Kafka platform. You will be working together with application teams both with onboarding and design of their solutions when needed as well as troubleshooting their problems when needed.
The primary responsibilities for the team is however to provide self-service and governance on top of Kafka as part of the overall offering from Integration Centre of Enablement. The development part of the role focuses mainly on configuring these aspects and building automation and tooling towards this goal.
Furthermore, in the role of Kafka experts we are participating in troubleshooting and finding ways to mitigate problems in the running platform. The primary operational responsibility lies elsewhere but we are still actively involved in the more complex tasks.
Moreover, you'll be:
- Overseeing the management of the Event Streaming platform using Apache Kafka, including its crucial components.
- Manage, administer & monitor Apache Kafka clusters, ensuring stability, scalability, and high availability.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools for Kafka platform provisioning, configuration, and monitoring. Implement and optimize Kafka deployments on Kubernetes.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to integrate Kafka into applications and data pipelines.
- Document best practices, guidelines, and procedures for Kafka administration and development.
- Continually learn and adapt to new developments in the Kafka ecosystem to stay up to date.
The position is in Bangalore.
What you'll bring
We believe that good engineers can switch and learn new languages and technologies, but to be a great match for our team we believe you possess the following skills:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in designing and implementing software solutions, using Apache Kafka.
- Experience and deep understanding of event-driven architectures, including hands-on experience in managing Kafka platform.
- Solid understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles and methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, needed when collaborating within the team as well as with platform customers and stakeholders.
- Strong technical background with a focus on software development principles and practices.
- Writing structured high-quality code and being well versed in core development concepts like code reviews, pull requests, testing and similar.
- Experience in building automation and self-service workflows
You also have an experience of:
- Hands-on experience from either Strimzi or CFK(Confluent Cloud is not applicable here)
- Hands-on experience from running software using a Kubernetes based orchestrator.
- Backend development experience using Java or Go.
- Proficiency in writing GitOps pipelines and working with scripting languages.
- Experience in observability and telemetry using Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticearch.
- Experience in using toolstacks like CertManager, ExternalDNS, Istio, Hashicorp Vault and FluxCD is desirable.
- Experience in Helm, ArgoCD and GitHub(incl Actions) is highly desirable.
- Experience in technologies like OpenID Connect, PKI(X509) is highly desirable.
- Experience in RedHat OpenShift is beneficial.
- Working with relational databases using PostgreSQL
