WRI India, an independent charity legally registered as the India Resources Trust, provides objective information and practical proposals to foster environmentally sound and socially equitable development. WRI Indias mission is to move human society to live in ways that protect Earths environment and its capacity to provide for the needs and aspirations of current and future generations. Through research, analysis, and recommendations, WRI India puts ideas into action to build transformative solutions to protect the earth, promote livelihoods, and enhance human well-being.
We are inspired by and associated with World Resources Institute (WRI), a research organization. Currently over 250 researchers are working with WRI India in our offices at Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

About your role:
The Junior Associate (Data Visualization and Graphics Design) will be a key member of WRI Indias Ross Centre for Sustainable Cities GeoAnalytics team, and work in collaboration with the core communications team. The role involves working with analytic colleagues to develop data visualization dashboards, interactive web-maps and infographics, creating storyboards that help in communicating complex data and insights into captivating visual outputs. The candidate is expected to be social media savvy and be able to use social media to enhance the outreach of the communication.
How your day will unfold:
Primary duty is to create visual representations of data that make it easier for people to understand and interpret large amounts of information. Use your creativity and expertise to find the most effective ways to communicate data whether it's through interactive dashboards or dynamic infographics. Have practical knowledge of softwares like Adobe illustrator, photoshop, InDesign etc that can create more effective and engaging visualisations. Help bring insights to life and help people understand the story behind the numbers. Be familiar with design principles such as colour theory, typography and layout and using them to create visualisations that are both aesthetically pleasing and easy to understand.
Infographics -
The candidate will be responsible for working with program staff to produce infographics that best
communicate complex data and insights into captivating visual outputs. The primary role entails:
- Creating and editing visual content including maps, charts, and graphs.
- Transforming data sets, quantitative and qualitative analysis into compelling visuals
- Support the company in the development of marketing materials, newsletters and reports
- Skilled in information design and data storytelling
- Help to translate data into insightful visual content, which is both beautiful and meaningful, making data, trends, analytics accessible on social media and mass communication platforms.
- Artistic representation of data and information using different elements such as graphs, pictures, diagrams, dashboards, etc.
- Convert generic, text - heavy presentations into more concise, graphically rich presentations.
- Produce graphics in line with WRI brand guidelines design principles, color and typography effectively across all deliverables
Social Media -
- Elevate WRIs work on social media platforms, targeted at key national, sub-national and international political moments.
- Spot social media trends relevant to the integrated urban planning work, and work to include our content in nationally trending conversations.
- Collaborate with the core-comms team to disseminate social media messages using official WRI India accounts on Twitter and LinkedIn.
- Identify other social media platforms more appropriate for storytelling and sharing visual communication material such as short video clips, spatial maps and data visualizations.
Qualifications and Requirements we seek:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in working with graphic applications
- Proficiency in software applications primarily in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Premier-Pro. And transforming content created from these to effective infographics in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Should be able to create icons, and 2D/3D images from scratch using appropriate software tools and platforms
- Preferable knowledge of cartographic design principles with experience in thematic mapping
- Excellent presentation and layout skills
- Good communication skills
- Should have an excellent design portfolio
- Proficiency in an additional Indian language would be an added benefit
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships internally and externally
- Ability to self-manage and meet deadlines
- Enthusiasm, flexibility, technical curiosity, and willingness to learn
- Excellent writing skills in English
- Proficient in design software such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and others
- Preferable knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS), Tableau, PowerBI
Salary and Benefits: 6,50,000 INR CTC Per annum
Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
