About the role
Are you passionate about data and eager to build your career in a dynamic, fast-paced environment Liven is looking for a motivated Junior Data Engineer to join our team, working alongside our Senior Data Engineer to build and maintain our cutting-edge data infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with advanced tools and technologies, including Databricks and AWS, and to contribute to impactful projects from day one.
What you'll do
Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines under the mentorship of the Senior Data Engineer. Help automate data workflows and integrate multiple data sources to streamline data processes.
Support the management and optimization of our AWS infrastructure (S3, EC2, RDS, Redshift), ensuring secure and efficient data storage and retrieval.
Assist in managing Databricks clusters, optimizing Spark job performance, and troubleshooting issues to ensure smooth and reliable data processing.
Contribute to implementing data governance practices, ensuring high standards of data integrity, quality, and security across all platforms.
Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other team members to provide clean, reliable data for machine learning models, analytics, and business reporting.
Help maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, architecture, and governance processes, supporting team understanding and collaboration.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Familiarity with Databricks and AWS services (e.g., S3, EC2, Redshift), and experience with data tools like Spark.
Basic programming skills in Python or Scala, and a working knowledge of SQL.
Foundational understanding of data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in data processing environments.
A proactive approach to learning new technologies and tools, particularly in big data, cloud infrastructure, and data governance.
Good to Have
Familiarity with BI tools such as Looker, PowerBI, or Tableau to support data visualization and reporting.
Experience working with data from POS systems or within the F&B or hospitality industries.
Basic understanding of version control systems like Git for managing code and collaboration.
Introductory-level certifications in AWS or Databricks, demonstrating foundational cloud skills.
