The Jr. Accountant is responsible for managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor payments, customer invoices, and receipts. The role also involves maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and assisting with statutory compliance and audit requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger:
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting transactions
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end closing procedures
- Maintain inventory and fixed asset records.
Accounts Payable:
- Process vendor payments weekly and maintain a list of payables.
- Prepare creditors reports and reconcile accounts payable transactions, periodically.
- Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date and resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Issue PDCs (Post-Dated Checks) to vendors and ensure timely clearance.
Accounts Receivable:
- Prepare sales invoices along with delivery challans (DCs) and e-way bills.
- Dispatch invoices and obtain acknowledgments from customers.
- File invoices along with acknowledgments and maintain proper records.
- Process receipt of cheques/DDs from customers, verifying details and deductions like TDS and retention money.
- Perform account reconciliations and monitor customer accounts for irregularities.
- Resolve payment discrepancies and generate aged analysis reports.
- Communicate with customers via phone, email, mail, or in person to follow up on payments and resolve issues.
Statutory Compliance:
- Prepare GSTR1 sales details as per HSN code.
- Prepare GSTR2A purchase details as per HSN code for filing GSTR3B.
- Deduct TDS as per the slab and make monthly payments.
- Make PT (Professional Tax) payments and file returns.
- Process monthly EPF (Employee Provident Fund) payments.
- Perform quarterly GSTR2A reconciliations and follow up with vendors if not filed.
- Coordinate with auditors for quarterly TDS filing.
Other Responsibilities:
- Upload reports on a day-to-day basis to Google Drive for easy access and record-keeping.
- Assist auditors with yearly tax audits by providing necessary documents and information.
- Manage the dispatch of materials and maintain accurate records.
- Conduct periodic stock verification to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Assist with other accounting and finance-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or CA inter in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software Zoho and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Knowledge of Indian tax laws, GST, TDS, and other statutory compliance requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
