Job Description

  • Assessment and Evaluation:

    - Assist in conducting initial nutritional assessments of clients or patients.

    - Review medical history, dietary habits, anthropometric measurements, and biochemical data.

    - Learn to interpret assessment findings and identify nutritional needs.


  • Nutritional Counseling and Education:

    - Provide nutrition education and counseling under the supervision of a registered dietitian.

    - Help develop and implement personalized nutrition plans based on individual needs and goals.

    - Educate clients on healthy eating habits, portion control, and lifestyle modifications.



  • Meal Planning and Nutrient Analysis:

    - Assist in developing meal plans that align with dietary guidelines and client preferences.

    - Learn to analyze nutrient content of foods and meals using food composition databases.



  • Documentation and Record Keeping:

    - Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including nutritional assessments, progress notes, and meal plans.

    - Ensure confidentiality and adherence to legal and ethical standards.



  • Research and Evidence-Based Practice:

    - Engage in literature review and evidence-based research related to nutrition and dietetics.

    - Stay informed about current trends, guidelines, and research findings in the field.



  • Communication and Collaboration:

    - Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.

    - Communicate effectively with clients, families, and caregivers to support dietary compliance and behavior change.



  • Professional Development:

    - Attend professional development workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance knowledge and skills.

    - Participate in continuing education opportunities to meet requirements for RD certification.



  • Administrative Tasks:

    - Assist with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing paperwork, and billing procedures.

    - Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and program evaluation efforts.



  • Ethics and Compliance:

    - Adhere to ethical standards and professional codes of conduct set forth by relevant regulatory bodies.

    - Maintain awareness of legal regulations and guidelines governing dietetics practice.



  • Reflection and Supervision:

    - Participate in regular supervision sessions with a registered dietitian preceptor to reflect on clinical experiences, discuss challenging cases, and receive feedback.
