Job Description:
The Intellectual Property Paralegal position will provide specialized support in the development and maintenance of the global intellectual property portfolio. The position co-ordinates and supports the IP Counsel in all matters relating to the filing and maintenance of the global IP portfolio, coordination with the outside law firm, inventers, business team and legal department to get all documents in place for processing of patent / trademark applications, renewals, revocation, Oppositions, responding to office actions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparation of patent filings, including reviewing, organizing and formatting documents, creating legal documents, and filing documents.
- Create and maintain files containing documents and other information related to patent-related matters
- Coordinating with various external law firms and internal stakeholders to support in trademarks applications, registrations, renewals, oppositions, revocations, settlements, litigation in various countries, collecting evidence of use, sales, marketing material, coordinating for signatures, maintaining Trademark Database,
- Develop and maintain Patent and Trademark database;
- Co-ordinating for signatures on various regulatory/legal documents
- Diarising important case dates, monitoring and keeping track of deadlines
- Collaborate with internal teams, external counsel, and stakeholders
- Communicate with government agencies, if directed in respect of any of the above
- Facilitate the exchange of information between legal and non-legal teams
- Such other duties as may be required by the IP Counsel
- Continuously develops personal and professional skills
Profile:
- Education: B. Sc. Chemistry / B.Tech. in Textile/Dyestuff/Organic Chemistry.
- Experience:5 or more years experience as a Paralegal (Patent or Trademark) in industry or a law firm. A registered patent agent is preferred but not necessary.
- Reporting: This position will report to the IP Counsel in the Legal and Compliance Department and work closely with other stakeholders within the group.
