About the Position: IT Support Engineer

We are seeking an IT Support Engineer with 2-5 years of experience to join our IT team. This role is perfect for a proactive, problem-solving tech enthusiast who thrives in a collaborative environment. As an IT Support Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our IT systems, providing support across various platforms, and ensuring smooth operations as Strand grows in the genomics space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide efficient and effective IT support, quickly resolving technical issues to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux, Windows, and macOS systems, documenting procedures for streamlined support.
  • Collaborate on IT projects to enhance systems and processes, proactively identifying and addressing potential challenges.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions across platforms like Google Workspace and O365.
  • Troubleshoot and support network devices (Ubiquiti, Aruba, Meraki) and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Act as a primary contact for complex technical issues, escalating as needed to ensure timely resolutions.
  • Train and support end-users, enabling them to maximize their tech utility.
  • Monitor IT systems using tools such as DataDog, Grafana, and Uptime Kuma to maintain infrastructure stability and performance.
  • Stay current with the latest tools and best practices in IT support to continually improve Strand's tech environment.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3-6 years of IT support experience; experience in healthcare or life sciences is a plus.
  • Proficient in Linux, Windows, and macOS environments.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with user management through Google Workspace, O365, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with ITSM platforms (e.g., Freshservice, ServiceNow), IAM/MDM tools (e.g., Jumpcloud, Intune), and open-source monitoring tools like Zabbix and Wazuh.
  • Solid experience with network devices and virtualization solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight.
