The Team
The successful candidate will support the Index Management Teams within the Global Index Management & Production Group responsible for the calculation and maintenance of S&P Dow Jones Indices.
The Impact
The Index Support Analyst is responsible for supporting a wide range of indices across global equity markets, with a focus on the EMEA region and ESG themes. The Index Support Analyst performs a crucial role in the end-to-end launch process of new S&P and Dow Jones-branded indices and will ensure the efficient progress of new index and related projects through the pipeline. The Index Support Analyst is also required to act as a backup to other index managers in the department on certain maintenance processes and activities, making in-depth knowledge of the team's product line essential.

The Index Support Analyst is responsible for the completion of assigned index launch and related projects, including the review of documents and system configurations and the completion of a rigorous checklist to ensure new products are seamlessly launched and onboarded by the maintenance groups.
- This role will offer the opportunity to connect with stakeholders from all aspects of SPDJI's business and a direct connection to a wide variety of new indices and product types.
- This role provides an opportunity to support the launch of high profile ESG themed indices. To analyze and implement complex index methodology and solve non-routine problems on an on-going basis.
- The role will also provide the opportunity to participate in and contribute to research activities supporting the maintenance and rebalance of high-profile equity indices.
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly review new indices handed over by our index development group for accurate setup, alignment with methodology and correct configurations, completing a comprehensive checklist to ensure the quality of new indices released into production.
- Create the appropriate set of client-facing files and liaise with production teams to ensure new indices are configured for the necessary end-of-day and realtime distribution channels prior to launch date.
- Take full ownership of the end-to-end launch process for currency, hedged and decrement index types, reviewing the project specifications, draft methodology and proposed calculation and liaising with various groups to ensure the project moves through the required stages to a timely and efficient launch.
- Provide updates on the status of new index projects in the team's pipeline to other internal groups involved in the launch process, communicating proactively and resolving issues or questions that arise to avoid delays and errors.
- Support index rebalances by interpreting index methodology, conducting research into company fundamentals, dividend payment patterns, ESG reporting or revenue segments as required.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes for maximum efficiency, work with the necessary teams to produce requirements, test and implement new tools or reports.
- Provide timely and accurate responses to enquiries from clients via internal functions such as Client Coverage and Index Services
- Work in close coordination with the technology group and production support group to further enhance our system capabilities as appropriate
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in business, math, economics, or finance-related areas.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working in financial markets
- A demonstrable understanding of global financial markets and company fundamentals
- Strong understanding of how indices are used, the impact of different methodologies, corporate event events on both indices and financial portfolios
- Experience with financial data, in particular company fundamentals, filings ESG disclosures or corporate actions, would be an advantage
- Ability to assume responsibility, work with others and manage projects
- Ability to learn S&P's proprietary index calculation engines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. VBA, Python would be an advantage
- Excellent analytical and numerical capabilities to aid in solving non-routine problems in a timely fashion
