Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup:
o Set up internal grinding machines by installing and adjusting grinding wheels, attachments, and other fixtures according to the specifications.
o Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings to determine grinding requirements.
- Operation:
o Operate grinding machines to perform precision machining on the internal surfaces of metal components.
o Monitor the grinding process to ensure that parts meet specified tolerances and surface finishes.
o Adjust machine settings, such as speed, feed, and coolant flow, to achieve optimal results.
- Quality Control:
o Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments like micrometres, callipers, and bore gauges to ensure they meet quality standards.
o Identify and troubleshoot any issues with the grinding process, making necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Maintenance:
o Perform routine maintenance on grinding machines, including sharpening or replacing grinding wheels and cleaning equipment.
o Keep the work area clean and organized, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
- Safety Compliance:
o Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent accidents and injuries.
o Ensure that all grinding operations comply with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Skills and Qualifications: - Technical Skills:
o Proficient in operating internal grinding machines and related equipment.
o Knowledge of grinding wheel types, materials, and grinding techniques.
o Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
o High level of precision and accuracy in machining operations.
o Ability to detect and correct any deviations in the grinding process.
o Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues with equipment or machining processes.
o Ability to stand for extended periods and handle heavy machine components.
