Overall Purpose of the job
The primary function of the Hyperbaric Chamber Operator is to maintain and operate one Commercial Type Chamber and to operate in support of USAG-KA in accordance with US Federal Regulation on Standards 29CFR, Part 1910, Subpart T, Commercial Diving Operations; and U.S. Navy Diving Manual, Volume 5, Diving Medicine & Recompression Chamber Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- The Chamber Operator is responsible for ensuring the chamber is available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year (366 days during a leap year).
- The Chamber Operator is responsible for managing the proper preventive maintenance to ensure that the chamber is available and running properly.
- The Chamber Operator is responsible for the inventory of chamber supplies, equipment, oxygen and devices used in hyperbaric treatments. This includes keeping track of stock levels, performing routine audits, and restocking as needed.
- The Chamber Operator must perform regular inspections and testing of the chamber and products to ensure that they are safe and effective for use.
- The Chamber Operator must maintain accurate records of all treatments administered to include any operations logs in accordance with applicable documentation as identified by industry standards.
- The Chamber Operator must ensure that all equipment is in compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines. This includes monitoring changes in regulations and updating policies and procedures as needed.
- The Chamber Operator must effectively communicate with other departments and medical personnel to ensure that they are a contributing member of the treatment team.
- Coordinate daily with others on the team.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education Required
- Must be certified by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) to operate the hyperbaric chamber.
- High school degree or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Work is normally performed in a typical hyperbaric chamber environment.
- Work may involve sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- Will require bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely negotiate the movement of oxygen bottles
Other Special Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
- This position is unaccompanied.
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- US DOD NACI clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
- Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
- A valid passport is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
