Head Safety

The Deputy General Manager/ General Manager of Safety in the steel manufacturing industry is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the health and safety of all employees, contractors, and visitors at the plant. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining robust safety programs tailored to the unique hazards of steel production, such as heavy machinery, high temperatures, and complex processes. The DGM/GM of Safety will lead risk assessments, monitor safety performance, ensure compliance with OSHA and industry-specific regulations, and foster a culture of safety across all levels of the organization. This position also involves driving continuous improvement initiatives, managing safety training, and overseeing incident investigations to prevent future occurrences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and enforce comprehensive safety policies and procedures specific to steel manufacturing operations.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DUpont and industry-specific safety standards.
• Lead safety training programs and awareness campaigns for all levels of staff.
• Oversee accident and incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and preventive measures are implemented.
• Lead a team of safety professionals, fostering a proactive safety culture.
• Collaborate with senior management to drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
• Report on safety metrics and make recommendations to improve overall safety performance.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in safety management within industrial or steel manufacturing environments.
• Experience - 18 years Min.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, safety regulations, and best practices specific to the Steel,Cement, Chemical, Copper industry.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to influence and drive safety culture change across the organization.
