Job Purpose
Responsible for ongoing management of the RM purchasing strategy and activity and for ensuring optimal supplier performance and price whilst delivering savings on costs.
Job Responsibilities
- Manages the procurement of raw materials (API) and excipients for all the formulation manufacturing facilities.
- Identification of potential suppliers and assessing their suitability as per the company policy.
- Negotiation on Prices, payment terms, supply part with vendors.
- Periodic review and monitoring of MRP and stocks to avoid under/over procurement as well as to keep costs in check.
- Review the pending orders & follow up for dispatch & delivery of the materials in time.
- Monitor the approval and rejections of the materials in sync with the quality teams.
- In case of rejections, inform the vendors of the reasons for rejections and arrange the replacement of materials in time.
- Remains current on market trends with competitors, suppliers, and maintains procurement pipelines with alternative vendors to ensure corporate standards are maintained.
- Oversees the preparation of periodic reports as required by corporate office.
- Monitoring shipment schedules and instructing Logistics to organize pick-ups from supplier locations.
- Interface with other departments within the company like Finance, Warehouse, Analytical Department, Product Development, Regulatory, Quality, Legal etc.
- Ensure that the function operates in accordance with applicable health, safety and regulatory policies..
- Responsible for the preparation and processing purchase orders and documents in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Educational Qualification
B.Tech / B.Bharm/ B.Sc. / M.Sc. And Diploma in Materials Management
Previous Experience
- Overall 15 to 18 years with demonstrable experience of managing the RM purchasing function in the past 5 years.
- Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
- Experience of managing CAPEX as well as working in SAP would be an added advantage.
