Position: Head of Merchant Payments

Location: Mumbai (Office-based)

Experience: 8-12 years

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our Merchant Payments department, overseeing cash management systems, payouts, and reconciliation processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial operations within the banking or fintech sector.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Oversight:

- Lead the cash management system and escrow setup

- Ensure compliance with RBI guidelines for payment aggregators

- Develop and implement standardized workflows for the team

2. Financial Operations:

- Manage daily reconciliation of merchant payouts

- Oversee timely and accurate accounting entries

- Ensure alignment between payout and accounting systems

3. Risk Management:

- Devise and implement monitoring mechanisms for exceptions

- Develop periodic reports for stakeholders

- Identify and resolve discrepancies through cross-functional coordination

4. Team Leadership:

- Build and mentor a high-performing, independent team

- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities

- Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement

5. Stakeholder Management:

- Collaborate with Product, Business, Technology, and Operations teams

- Ensure effective communication and timely resolution of issues

- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners

Required Qualifications:

- MBA in Finance or Chartered Accountant certification

- 8-12 years of experience, preferably in the banking sector

- Deep understanding of transaction flows, settlements, refunds, and reconciliation processes

- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel

- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

- Proven leadership and team management experience
