Summary
As the Technical Head of Recycling - Hardware, you will lead and oversee all aspects of hardware engineering related to currency recyclers. You will be responsible for managing an existing team of hardware engineers, guiding the development of innovative hardware solutions, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects. The ideal candidate must have an exceptionally strong background in the design and development of currency recycling devices, demonstratable technical excellence and leadership skills, and a passion for driving technological advancements.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
- Leadership: Provide technical direction and leadership to the hardware engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of hardware engineers, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and career development.
- Project Management: Ability to scope and define the entire hardware development lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget and meet the defined requirements.
- Technical Expertise: Must have demonstrable minimum 15 years experience in currency recycler design and development for global products. Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements in recycler hardware engineering and provide guidance on the adoption of new technologies and best practices.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments, including firmware engineering, product management, and manufacturing, to ensure alignment and successful product development.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain quality standards for hardware products, ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and obstacles in hardware development projects and implement strategies to mitigate them effectively.
Qualifications/Experience/Characteristics
- Minimum bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, or a closely related field. Advanced degree (MS or PhD) preferred.
- Proven experience (15+ years) in currency recycling engineering, with a focus on mechanical device design and development and support.
- Strong technical and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve their full potential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical design principles, methodologies, and tools, as relates to currency recycling design tasks, including mechanism and note handling simulation.
- Experience with regulatory compliance standards (e.g., FCC, UL, ADA) and product certification processes.
- Familiarity with real time systems, and hardware/software integration.
- Proven track record of successfully designing and developing complex global currency recycling hardware projects on time and within budget.
