As the Head of Department for Structures - Bridge Design, you will be responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise in the planning, design, and execution of bridge projects while actively contributing to the growth and development of our business. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in bridge engineering, project management, team leadership, and business development.
Job Description
The key responsibilities will be:
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership in the planning, design, and analysis of bridge structures.
- Oversee and review bridge design concepts, calculations, and construction drawings to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in bridge design and construction.
Project Management
- Lead and manage bridge design projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate bridge design components into multidisciplinary projects.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to Quality Management System in day to day working of the department.
Business Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the field of bridge design and related infrastructure projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients to understand their needs and expand our service offerings.
- Collaborate with the business development team to prepare technical and financial proposals, presentations, and bids for prospective projects.
Team Management
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of bridge design professionals.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Inspire and motivate staff to achieve excellence.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Client Interaction
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients, understanding their needs and expectations.
- Collaborate with clients to develop innovative and cost-effective bridge design solutions.
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and maintain positive client relationships.
Quality Assurance
- Establish and enforce quality assurance procedures for bridge design projects.
- Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering. Masters degree in structural engineering is desirable.
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in bridge design with a proven record of successful project management.
- Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and regulations.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
