Head Design & Engineer

Job Role: Head- Design& Engineering
Nature of Role: Permanent
Location: Kattupalli(Chennai)

Professional Experience:

• 15-20 years or more of experience in the respective field, including experience in EPC projects.
• Previous experience as a Team Lead or similar managerial roles in relevant project.

Reports to: SBU Head
Purpose of the Role: Lead the Yard Design & Engineering Team. Responsible to project deliverables
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Civil engineering discipline.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Lead the department with a strong technical background in relevant engineering disciplines such as Structural, Piping, Mechanical, etc for construction engineering.
• 10 years or more of experience in EPC projects to provide technical guidance and expertise with previous experience in managerial roles such as Lead Engineer, ensuring effective project delivery.
• Proficiency in engineering software tools such as Staad-Pro, AutoCAD, Tekla Structure, PV-Elite, ANSYS, etc.
• Thorough understanding of industry standards and codes including ASME, AISC, API, Eurocodes, ABS, DNV, IBR, etc.
• Ability to review design calculations, Strong grasp of structural connection design, piping design, and static equipment engineering principles.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring efficiency and adherence to project deadlines.
• Lead and guide teams of engineers and draftsmen to optimize output and efficiency.
• Engineering management experience in the design and execution of industrial structures, piping systems, and static equipment.
• Demonstrate strong leadership skills to motivate and guide team members effectively.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with internal teams, stakeholders, clients, and regulatory bodies.
• Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts constructively.
• Implement company/project quality systems and procedures to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Capture lessons learned and undertake improvement initiatives for product or process enhancement.
• Develop organizing systems/processes to ensure efficient project execution.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency through innovative solutions.
• Utilize estimating skills to ensure cost-effective design solutions.
• Coordinate with certification and regulatory bodies for necessary engineering approvals.
• Develop and manage vendors for outsourcing works, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Maintain high awareness of safe working practices associated with design and construction activities.
• Work effectively in a collaborative team environment and coordinate with other engineering disciplines to integrate construction engineering seamlessly into complex projects.

• External to organization: Customer, Vendor, Consultants

Key Deliverables:

• Timely Issue of Engineering deliverables as per the specifications & Project requirements
• Review & Technical evaluation of drawings and Design documents.
• Site Support & Technical Query Resolution

Key Competencies Functional:

• Knowledge of the relevant codes & standards applicable to the Oil& Gas sector (ASME, AISC, API, BSEN,IS etc.)
• Exposure to Major clients / Mega projects in Oil & Gas Sector
• Working experience in softwares like AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, BOCAD, TEKLA, PV Elite.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 2,000,000.00 - 2,500,000.00 per year
