What is the Global Fund Tax Consultant Fund Tax group responsible for

  • The Global Fund Tax Consultant acts as a key subject matter expert (SME) on US Fund Tax functions and drives the related processes. Provides tax support to meet operational and administrative requirements with respect to the Tax department. Prepares and/or reviews various tax compliance and regulatory tasks. Ensures control measures are in place to support existing and new processes. Supports and participates in teams technology initiatives to meet organizational/department specific goals. Independently and under very minimal direction drives complex projects. Assists the department in driving and completing various retail funds events.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Global Fund Tax Consultant

  • Support various Fund Tax mutual fund compliance requirements including the preparation or review of annual tax provisions for financial reporting, annual tax return filings, qualification testing, and information for year-end tax reporting.
  • Prepare and/or review distribution planning and income forecasting for mutual funds.
  • Analyze and/or review complex security investments, coordinating with contacts to obtain relevant documentation.
  • Contribute in the development of tax positions on matters of tax law and tax accounting policy affecting fund investments, fund distributions and elections, and other tax positions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with various teams within FT as well as third party administrators/tax advisors; serve as a main point of contact for them.
  • Serve as first point of contact for stakeholders and respond to questions/requests accordingly.
  • Support Fund Tax department's role in new product launches or reorganizations and complete required tasks.
  • Work with appropriate groups to set acceptable Tax operations processes and responsibilities, especially those newly introduced.
  • Manage Fund Tax processes, from SME perspective, to ensure it is running smoothly, issues are promptly identified and corrected, opportunities are identified to create efficiencies, and execute improvements to reduce risk or lower costs.
  • Regularly reviews Fund Tax procedures and policies based on changes in industry or internal requirements makes recommendations for updates as necessary.
  • Monitor notices received from tax authorities and take necessary action.
  • Provide tax support for non-US regulatory filing requirements, such as registering for global intermediary identification numbers (GIIN).

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful

  • Bachelors degree or higher or equivalent work experience
  • Five to seven years professional experience in financial services
  • 5 to 7 years of Tax exposure
  • Possess knowledge of tax software implementation and functionality of new technologies.
  • Must have advanced computer skills including Power BI, Xceptor and Alterxy knowledge, and be familiar with Microsoft business applications, and other tax and financial applications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
