As a Generator Service Technician, your primary responsibility is to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair generator systems used for backup power generation. Basically you will be working with diesel generators, ensuring they operate efficiently and reliably. Your role involves conducting regular periodic inspections and preventive maintenance, diagnosing issues and performing repairs to guarantee optimal performance and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Installation: Install new generator systems according to manufacturer specifications and client requirements.
Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance checks on generators to ensure they are in proper working condition. This involves inspecting fuel and oil levels, testing batteries, replacing lubes & filters, and performing any necessary adjustments or replacements.- Repairs: Diagnose and repair generator malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues using diagnostic tools and manuals. Replace faulty parts and components as needed.
Testing: Perform load bank testing and other diagnostic procedures to verify generator performance and identify potential problems. Conduct regular testing of automatic transfer switches (ATS) and related equipment to ensure seamless transition during power outages.
- Documentation: Maintain records of service and maintenance activities, including inspection reports, repair logs, and parts inventory. Provide accurate documentation to clients and supervisors regarding work performed and recommendations for future maintenance.
Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs, provide technical assistance, and address any concerns or questions they may have regarding their generator systems. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through professionalism and timely service delivery.
Qualifications:
Prefer ITI in electrical or mechanical engineering.
Proven experience as a generator technician or similar role, with expertise in troubleshooting and repairing generator systems will be an added advantage.
Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Strong understanding of electrical systems, including AC/DC circuits, voltage, and current measurements.
Familiarity with diesel engines, fuel systems, alternators, and automatic transfer switches (ATS).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
Valid 2 wheeler license.
Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency service calls as needed.
