Job Description
Assist Medical Officer in attending to OPD patients. Ensure provision of care where the protocol specifies it and smooth functioning of the OPD unit, maintain necessary records.
Assist Medical Officer and perform nursing activities. Take history of patients and complaints. Give psychological reassurance. Observe level of consciousness and condition of the patients on arrival. Receive, greet and talk to patients to reduce apprehension.
Given comprehensive nursing care to patients with different acute conditions. Provide comfort measures to patients, and give emotional support to patient and family. Identify the needs and provide guidance and counseling, and health education services to the patients under her care.
Communicate with patients, significant others and public to learn their satisfaction with care and improve rapport between clinic and patients.
Maintain aseptic technique in all works with patients. Treat the patient as an individual, communicate effectively with patients, relatives and UPHC staff using principles of communication and interpersonal relations. Maintain proper body language during work.
Maintain equipment electrical appliances, instruments, autoclaves and others. Utilize appropriate methods of sterilization according to need. Place instruments within reach and use precautions for infection control.
Administer prescribed medication after thorough checking and following of right patient, right dose, right route and right time.
Supervise collection and sending specimens to respective labs and ensure that reports are received and posted in the appropriate places.
Supervise nursing, maintenance and sanitary facilities. Supervise the work of the Class-IV staff allotted in Organize and supervise fieldwork in respect of outreach activities, visit outreach areas to provide curative services of antenatal, pediatric, post-operational, geriatric, communicable, non-communicable, health education and health counselling services etc.
Assess the Public Health situation with respect to seasonal variation and take all preventive and promotive measures well ahead. Conduct epidemiological investigation. Supervise the work of infant/maternal death audit.
Outbreak investigation, if there are more than five cases seen from one cluster of any infections within the week. This will include house-visits for active case detection of more cases in that area.
Expected to work for 9 hours 11am to 8pm in consultation with Medical Officer. Report in uniform.
Any other duties of similar nature which is not covered by the above item may be assigned by the Medical Officer incharge/PHM/CO/DPMU/SPMU in the interest of the patients as well as of public service during emergency from time-to-time.
