Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and creative Furniture Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong design sensibility, a deep understanding of materials and manufacturing processes, and a passion for creating beautiful and functional furniture. As a Furniture Designer at Nook, you will be responsible for developing new product concepts, refining designs, and collaborating with our team to bring innovative furniture solutions to life.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Development: Create original and trend-setting furniture designs that align with Nook's brand identity and vision. Develop detailed sketches, technical drawings, and 3D models.
Material Selection: Research and select materials that ensure durability, sustainability, and aesthetic appeal. Work with suppliers to source high-quality materials.
Prototype and Testing: Collaborate with the production team to develop prototypes. Oversee the testing process to ensure designs meet quality and safety standards.
Trend Analysis: Stay updated with the latest design trends, materials, and technologies. Apply this knowledge to inspire and inform your designs.
Collaboration: Work closely with other designers, engineers, and marketing teams to ensure cohesive product development and alignment with brand goals.
Client Interaction: Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and preferences, incorporating their feedback into design improvements.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized documentation of design processes, materials, and production specifications.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in furniture design or a related industry. A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of design projects is required.
Skills: Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar. Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and ergonomic principles.
Creativity: A proven ability to generate innovative ideas and solutions that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present and articulate design concepts clearly.
Team Player: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team environment and build positive relationships.
