Your role in the Team

As you will be part of a multi - functional team, you will work closely with other departments to ensure fraud is managed effectively, while also driving and managing fraud independently. You will be proactive with any queries and requests from clients to ensure they are answered and ensure you maintain up to date with changes to regulations and fraud trends.
The Fraud Operations Analyst is responsible for identifying, investigating, and mitigating fraudulent activities within the payments ecosystem. This role involves both a proactive and reactive approach in combatting fraud.
The ideal candidate will be confident in analysing transaction data, implementing fraud prevention strategies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to protect the organisation and its customers from financial losses. The role will be client facing, and involve engaging with the client to ensure a timely and effective resolution of the case. The role will also involve external communication with Action Fraud and external vendors in order to improve our fraud management techniques.
What you'll do
Fraud Detection and Prevention:
Monitor and analyse transaction data in Castle and in IG's internal databases to identify suspicious activities and potential fraud.
Develop and implement fraud detection rules and strategies to minimise risk, while championing prevention projects such as 2FA.
Conduct thorough investigations of suspected fraud cases and document findings, working closely with Security Operations and Compliance.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Utilise Castle to detect patterns and trends indicative of fraudulent behaviour.
Prepare detailed reports on fraud incidents, including root cause analysis and recommendations for prevention, raising OREs where appropriate.
Maintain accurate records of all fraud cases and actions taken in the Fraud log, to help identify trends.
Client Management and Case Resolution:
Handle client interactions (calls, emails, chats) relating to fraud and resolve cases in a timely and efficient manner that delivers good client outcomes.
Restore safe access for IG's clients to access their accounts when taken over fraudulently, ensuring that dispute risk for future issues is minimised.
Manage queries relating to fraudulent withdrawals, investigating with payment providers to claw back funds where possible.
Handle trade-related issues, where positions were closed fraudulently and need to be reinstated.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other departments, such as Trading Services, Compliance, and IT, to address fraud-related issues.
Communicate effectively with external stakeholders, including Action Fraud and the Police during investigations.
Provide training and support to team members on fraud detection techniques and best practices.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure all fraud prevention activities comply with relevant regulations and internal policies.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging fraud threats.
Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the development of risk mitigation strategies.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance fraud detection and prevention capabilities, particularly with AI.
Drive the adoption of Castle.

What you'll need for this role
. 5 years experience managing fraud, ideally within financial services
.Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Castle).
.A degree-level education
. Fluency in English (verbal and written)
. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
. The ability to work well independently and under pressure
. A logical and analytical approach
. Very good organization and time management skills
. Literacy in MS Office
. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
