As a Firewall Safety and Networking Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the security and efficiency of the organization's network infrastructure. This role involves configuring, managing, and maintaining firewall systems, monitoring network traffic, and implementing security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
Key Responsibilities:
Firewall Management:
- Configure, deploy, and manage firewall systems (both hardware and software) to protect the organization's network from external and internal threats.
- Monitor firewall performance and logs to identify and respond to potential security incidents.
- Update and patch firewall systems to address vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security policies.
Network Security:
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), antivirus software, and VPNs.
- Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate risks.
- Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and ensure network integrity.
Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
- Monitor network traffic and performance to detect and resolve issues promptly.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and performance problems.
- Analyze network traffic patterns and logs to identify and address potential security threats.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of firewall configurations, network topology, and security policies.
- Generate and review reports on network performance, security incidents, and compliance with security standards.
Collaboration and Training:
- Work closely with other IT professionals, including network administrators and security analysts, to ensure seamless integration of security measures.
- Provide training and support to staff on network security best practices and procedures.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in network security and firewall technologies.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance network security and performance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+) are preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience in network security, including hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network monitoring tools.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, etc.) and firewall configurations.
- Proficiency with firewall platforms such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Check Point.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
