Role Summary
The Finance Professional will report to the Management and beaccountable for the effective delivery of the finance strategy. This will be achieved byensuring the function's efficient operation and working to improve its value to thebusiness. The oversight of the finance function will encompass responsibility andoperational accountability for financial control, operations, planning and analysis,achieved through driving the function forward and the effective management anddevelopment of its team as well as working closely with internal and externalstakeholders.
The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible and accountable for the effective running and oversight of all aspects of the finance function at the organization.
- This includes:
- Finance Strategy
- Implement and deliver the Company's finance strategy and support the management & Leadership Team in its development.
- Financial Control
- Accountable for the development and implementation of an effective financial accounting function. That is: to ensure the accurate and timely capture and processing of financial transactions and the application of Financial Reporting Standards and best practices to the organization's accounting
- Work with the management to identify, assess and mitigate organizational risk
- Ensure the smooth running of the accounts payable and receivable functions
- Oversee the smooth delivery of the agreed month-end timetable to ensure timely reporting to the management
- Work to continually develop, implement, embed and document robust finance controls, processes and procedures: ensure that the organization operates within these.
- Take responsibility for the compliance requirements of the organization: to its funders and regulators
- Lead on the annual external audit and any internal functional audits
- Oversee the efficient delivery of the monthly payroll
- Oversee the organization's cash forecasting and treasury function
- Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity
- Financial Planning and Analysis
- Ensure that management accounts are accurately produced and delivered to the management on the agreed timetables
- Oversee the delivery of an effective business partnering function to the Business Unit Leaders and development of the Finance Business Partner
- Drive and oversee the annual budgeting and in-year forecasting processes
- Work with the Finance Business Partner to develop a Budget Management Framework to analyze the business performance and its delivery of a value-for-money service to its stakeholders
- Work with the Finance Business Partner to ensure all new initiatives/projects/ business cases are reviewed and assessed for agreed financial returns on investment and SMART KPIs
- Financial Operations (Programmes)
- Work with Business Unit Leaders to help manage service contracts that have beenissuedtothirdparties
- Where necessary, support Business unit Leaders in negotiating program/projectcontracts
- SupportthequalityassuranceofoutsourcedserviceswiththeBusinessUnits
RequirementsQualification and Experienced Required
- Qualified finance professional (MBA- Finance, CA, CFA etc.) with a proven background in managing a finance function in a start-up or fast-moving environment.
- Demonstrable understanding of and the make-up of a secure financial control environment
- Demonstrable understanding of impactful business partnering
- Proven administrative, leadership and management effectiveness in the areas of strategic planning, analysis and organizational development.
- Demonstrable competency in running a finance function including payroll, taxes, VAT and transactional processing
- Attributable success in delivering a year-end through to audit closure
- Ability to work on own initiative, prioritize work, handle pressure and take day-to-day decisions on the running of the organisation.
- Demonstrable understanding and experience of managing risk
