Doon Film School is seeking a passionate and experienced Film Editing Faculty member to join our esteemed faculty team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the art and technique of film editing, helping them to develop the skills necessary to excel in the film and television industry. This position offers the opportunity to shape the next generation of filmmakers through comprehensive instruction and hands-on experience.
Teaching:- Deliver engaging and informative lectures on film editing principles, techniques, and software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro).
Develop and implement a curriculum that covers both the theoretical and practical aspects of film editing.- Conduct hands-on workshops and practical sessions to enhance students editing skills.
Evaluate student work, provide constructive feedback, and grade assignments and exams.
Guide students through the editing process on their film projects, from initial concept to final cut.- Provide one-on-one mentorship and support to help students overcome technical and creative challenges.
Curriculum Development:- Collaborate with other faculty members to continually improve and update the film editing curriculum.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in editing software and techniques to ensure the curriculum remains relevant and cutting-edge.Professional Development:
Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and stay updated with the latest industry practices.
- Attend industry conferences, workshops, and seminars as needed.
Administrative Duties:
- Participate in departmental meetings, planning sessions, and other school activities.
Assist in organizing and coordinating film screenings, guest lectures, and other events related to film editing.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree or comprehensive diploma in Film Editing, Film Production, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in film editing.
Proficiency in industry-standard editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro).- Previous teaching experience at the collegiate level or in a professional setting is highly desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
A passion for film and a commitment to fostering a creative and collaborative learning environment.
- Preferred Qualifications:
A portfolio of edited works, including films, documentaries, television shows, or other media projects.- Experience with sound design, color correction, and other post-production processes.
Membership in professional organizations related to film editing.
