Job Description

Qualifications: A Master's degree in Sociology/ Anthropology/ Social Work/ Rural Development is essential.

Work Experience

Minimum work experience of 2-5 years required in social surveys, ethnography, community mobilization, participatory conservation and natural resource management, and demographic studies of forest dependent communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • The candidate will be responsible for implementation of all community based interventions including (but not restricted to) social surveys, cropping pattern change/ improvements, selection of beneficiaries through consultations with local communities, behaviour change activities among local communities, and nature sensitization programme as per project plan.
  • Coordinate with volunteers, community based institution, State Forest Department, other government and Non- Government agencies for implementation of activities as per project plan.
  • Assist the community in adopting Human Wildlife Conflicts (HWC) mitigation strategies, helping in completing formalities for ex-gratia support.
  • Coordinate with volunteer groups, and villagers in data collection on conflict cases attended/ handled, conduct peace meetings and amelioration meetings with victim families & local communities.
  • Constitute Primary Response Team of local volunteers in human-wildlife conflict hotshots.
  • Data collection & analysis for the project activities.
  • Draft periodic reports for submission to different stakeholders
  • Ensure quality and timely implementation of assigned project activities within stipulated time and budget.
  • Maintain high level of professionalism, inclusion, equity, and transparency while implementing activities with the local communities, and the community based activities are ecologically sound.
  • Conduct timely and periodic reviews of project plans and activities and conduct weekly reporting on project activities

Essential Qualities

  • Candidate should have experience working with communities on human-wildlife conflict mitigation will be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data analysis is necessary, and working knowledge of Odia is mandatory. 3.Preference will be given to a candidate having working experience in Eastern Ghats/ Odisha.
