Qualifications: A Master's degree in Wildlife Sciences/ Life Sciences/ Ecology/ Conservation Biology or Action is essential.
Work Experience And Essential Qualities
- Minimum work experience of 2-4 years required in habitat ecology, habitat restoration, and species interactions at different trophic levels in human used natural habitats.
- Candidate should have experience working on forest and grassland ecosystems, and with protected area authorities.
- Experience in ecological study of long ranging mammals is desirable.
- Knowledge of GIS and remote sensing data usage and analysis and working knowledge of local language is desirable.
- Preference will be given to a candidate having working experience in Nilgiri landscape, Shola forest and Western Ghats.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure quality and timely implementation of assigned project activities within stipulated time and budget.
- Ensure project activities are implemented in an ecologically sound manner
- Develop methodologies, protocols and toolkits for wildlife habitat management and restoration in and around protected areas and wildlife corridors in Nilgiri Landscape.
- Provide technical inputs in strengthening management plans of PAs, buffer areas and wildlife corridors
- Guide habitat management and restoration in the project area, monitor the interventions periodically and prepare report on the interventions and results.
- Writing project reports, scientific papers, white papers etc. on the subject area.
- Conduct timely and periodic reviews of project plans and activities and conduct weekly reporting on project activities
