Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Tool Room Management: a. Supervise and manage the tool room operations. b. Maintain an inventory of
all tools, dies, molds, and equipment. c. Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of tools and
equipment. d. Coordinate with tool maintenance teams for tool repairs and replacements. e. Develop and
implement tool control and tracking systems. f. Optimize tool usage to minimize downtime and improve
productivity. g. Plan and schedule tooling requirements for production orders. h. Source and procure new
tools and equipment as needed.
- Stores Management: a. Oversee the operation of the stores department. b. Maintain accurate records of
inventory levels for raw materials, finished products, and other supplies. c. Implement inventory control
and management systems. d. Receive, inspect, and store incoming materials and components. e. Issue
materials and supplies to production departments as per their requirements. f. Monitor and track
inventory turnover, ensuring adequate stock levels. g. Collaborate with procurement and purchasing
teams to optimize inventory levels. h. Implement safety and security measures to protect stored materials
and equipment. i. Ensure compliance with relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Team Management: a. Supervise and lead a team of tool room technicians and storekeepers. b. Provide
training and development opportunities for staff. c. Set performance goals and evaluate employee
performance regularly. d. Resolve any conflicts or issues within the team.
- Cost Control: a. Monitor tool and material costs and work towards cost reduction initiatives. b. Identify
opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste in tooling and inventory management.
- Quality Control: a. Ensure that tools and materials meet quality standards and specifications. b. Implement
quality control processes to detect defects or deviations. c. Collaborate with quality assurance teams to
address any quality-related issues.
- Reporting: a. Prepare and present reports on tool room and stores operations to senior management. b.
Provide input for budget planning and cost projections. c. Maintain documentation related to inventory,
tooling, and maintenance records.
- Continuous Improvement: a. Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices. b. Stay
updated on industry trends and advancements in tooling and inventory management.
