The Transformer Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our transformer products by performing comprehensive testing, analysis, and process monitoring according to industry standards and company requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of transformer manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform troubleshooting of all tests as per IS 2026 / IEC60076 for both Dry and Oil Type transformers.
- Analyze process issues and effectively monitor critical processes such as Winding, Core building, Core Coil Assembly, Ovenning, Tanking Process, Dispatch process, VPI, and CRT process.
- Conduct customer inspections and ensure compliance with observations.
- Prepare effective corrective and preventive action plans to address quality issues and improve processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis of internal and site failures to identify and address underlying issues.
- Perform vendor audits and assess vendors according to RRPL standards.
- Develop check sheets for critical processes to ensure quality control.
- Analyze customer complaints and implement resolution strategies.
- Prepare Quality Assurance Plans, Control plans, Standard Operating Processes, and conduct proactive process audits as per customer requirements.
- Provide support for daily shop floor issues to ensure smooth production transitions.
- Perform and analyze wiring related to protection devices for transformers.
- Plan and optimize manpower utilization to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Utilize quality tools and techniques for analysis and presentation.
- Work towards reducing the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
- Verify Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) received from suppliers.
Qualifications:
- bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in transformer manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of transformer manufacturing processes and testing standards (IS 2026 / IEC60076).
- Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (eg, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Certification in quality management systems (eg, ISO 9001) is a plus.
