Job description - Estimator/Asst. Architect
- Roles and Responsibilities
Costing and Estimation
: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for architectural projects based on the Bills of Quantities (BOQ).- Analyze project specifications and drawings to identify the required quantities of materials, labor, and equipment.
Research and gather pricing information for materials, subcontractors, and other project expenses.
- Utilize estimation software and tools to calculate costs and generate comprehensive reports.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders to ensure accurate estimations.BOQ Preparation
: Assist in the creation and maintenance of detailed Bills of Quantities. Review architectural plans, drawings, and specifications to extract the necessary information for BOQ preparation.
- Identify and quantify individual project components, materials, and labor requirements.
Organize and present the BOQ in a clear and logical format, ensuring all elements are accurately represented.Project Coordination
: Collaborate with the project team to ensure smooth execution of the estimation process. Communicate with architects, engineers, and contractors to gather necessary inputs for costing.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to obtain up-to-date pricing information for materials and subcontracted services.
Participate in project meetings to provide cost-related inputs and insights.Continuous Improvement:
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, cost factors, laws, and regulations. Research and implement best practices in cost estimation techniques, tools, and methodologies.
- Attend training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge related to estimation.
Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy and quality of estimates and BOQs produced.- Validate estimation calculations and assumptions to minimize potential errors and omissions.
Review and verify the completeness and consistency of BOQs with project requirements.
- Collaborate with the QA/QC team to address any discrepancies or issues identified during the estimation process.
- Require Diploma Architecture/ Asst. Architect to prepare costing and Estimation.
Analyse labour, material, and time requirements for a project
- Estimate costs by looking at the entire project.
Present cost estimates to upper management- Prepare reports detailing all of the costs going into a project
Input cost data into company database
- Notice differences between estimated cost and actual cost
Look at customer requirements for a project- Work with the sales team to prepare proposals
Good knowledge of working drawings and AutoCAD.
