The Webex Platform and Infrastructure Engineering (WxIE) group operates and maintains the infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, etc.) for various WebEx collaboration services. Working within the WxIE organization, youll be part of a team that supports the multitude of Webex collaboration services including meetings and calling. We are the bridge that supports both our collaboration development and end users. Our infrastructure supports the shared experience connecting those who build and improve collaboration with technology to empower our customers to engage and innovate -- anywhere, on any device.

You will collaborate with network engineers who are passionate about solving complex challenges and embracing modern technology. Youll contribute to building scalable automation platforms and work comfortably with open-source communities and technologies. As part of a fast-paced team, youll be responsible for network automation and data analysis.
What You'll Do
We are looking for a Technical Leader to join the Webex Engineering team. As a Leader on our team, you will collaborate with cross functional peers, business and Partners for effective designing, provisioning, configuration, operation, and maintenance of physical and virtual network hardware and software. Based on your knowledge and experience, youll anticipate issues with the network infrastructure & the business model recommend functional process or service improvements. Additional responsibilities include:
- Develop and Maintain Automation Tools: Create, optimize, and maintain network automation scripts, tools, and workflows maximising internal systems and integrating third-party open-source and commercial solutions.
- Network Device Automation: Implement and solve automation processes across various network devices and platforms, including cisco routers, switches, and ACI.
- Network Data Analysis: Develop and enhance platforms to boost the efficiency, accuracy, and stability of network solve and performance optimization.
- Service Availability: Ensure 99.99% uptime and service availability for automation and data platforms through real-time monitoring, alert systems, and proactive issue resolution.
- Data Store Development: Build and manage robust data storage solutions to facilitate network automation and analysis.
- Data Security: Ensure compliance with security standards and maintain a secure environment for all network automation and data analysis processes.
- Collaborative Development: Work closely with cross-functional teams on requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment. Foster a collaborative environment and contribute to technical discussions and project planning.
- Continuous Improvement: Engage in technical training and knowledge sharing, continuously improving your skill set to enhance technical expertise and professional development.
- Network Operations Automation: Lead initiatives to automate and optimize network operations, focusing on scalability and reliability.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Experience:10+ years of professional experience, with at least 2 years in network automation development and 5+ years in software development.
- Educational Background: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field (recent graduates with strong technical backgrounds are also encouraged to apply).
- Programming Proficiency: Proficiency in at least two programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go), with expertise in Python and Ansible required. Hands-on project experience in network automation is a plus. Experience with AWX is a plus, with a preference for candidates who have used it for automation and orchestration
- Development Practices: Solid understanding of Git version control and Agile development methodologies. Experience with practical projects involving these tools and methodologies is preferred.
- Network Knowledge: Proven foundational knowledge of network engineering, management, and operations, including network monitoring and automation processes.
- Data Tools Expertise: Hands-on experience with search and analytics engines/big data tools, such as OpenSearch, Kafka, Kibana, Telegraf, InfluxDB, and Prometheus.
- AI/ML Knowledge: Basic understanding of AI and ML algorithms, with familiarity in AI model training, testing, and deployment processes.
- Linux Proficiency: Strong familiarity with Linux systems administration, including package management, operations, and performance tuning.
- Network Protocols: Deep understanding of network protocols and architectures, including but not limited to ISIS, BGP, BMP, ARP, SNMP, and CDP/LLDP.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, capable of articulating sophisticated technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Team Collaboration: Demonstrable ability to work effectively in team settings, actively contributing to group projects, discussions, and technical exchanges.
- Learning Attitude: Strong willingness to learn, with a dedicated demeanour toward staying ahead of with industry trends and continuously enhancing technical skills.
